Dholera SIR FAQs

The DFC (Dedicated Freight Corridor) project is a major railway infrastructure initiative that creates dedicated tracks for freight trains, reducing congestion and improving goods movement across major industrial routes in India.

DFC stands for Dedicated Freight Corridor, a railway system designed specifically for freight transport to increase speed, efficiency, and capacity.

DFCCIL (Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited) is the government organization responsible for planning, building, and operating the DFC corridors across India.

The DFC route map includes two major corridors — the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (Dadri to Mumbai) and the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (Punjab to West Bengal), connecting key industrial and logistics zones.

The DFC project is currently partially operational. Several sections are already active, while the remaining stretches are under construction and progressing in phases.

The DFC project is not fully completed yet. While some sections are operational, a significant portion is still under construction, with phased completion expected in the coming years.

You can download the DFC route map PDF from official government or DFCCIL websites, where detailed maps, reports, and project updates are available.

DFC railway lines are used only for freight trains, allowing higher speed and heavier loads. Normal railway lines carry both passenger and freight trains, which often leads to congestion and delays.
